Why are you in the business you're in?

Hello and welcome. Aaron Stevens from http://www.mlm-secrets-smashed.com/, I hope you’re doing well.

What I want to talk to you about today is 'why you’re in the business you’re in', and it’s a question you really need to ask yourself. Because if you don’t know the answer, then I’m afraid you’re already in a bit of trouble and it could be the reason why you’re not doing as well as you’d like to.

I’m going to take you through a process my business coach took me through a few years ago, and it’s going to dig deep into your thought processes. For some it could be a bit too confrontational because you've never put much thought into the subject. But it absolutely needs to be done so you can have a focal point. And the way I’m going to do this is to take you through my example, you can adapt this to suit yourself, but it’s important to keep going through the steps until you simply can’t go any further.

OK here’s my example….

Business Coach: Why are you in business?
Aaron Stevens: To earn a good income.

Business Coach: Why do you want to earn a good income?
Aaron Stevens: So that one day I can be completely financially independent.

Business Coach: Define financially independent?
Aaron Stevens: Never having to work in my life ever again.

Business Coach: And why do you want to be financially independent and never have to work again?
Aaron Stevens: Well, I’d rather be doing the things I enjoy rather than the things I have to do in order to survive.

Business Coach: What exactly would you do?
Aaron Stevens: Spend more time with family, holiday around the world, be the master of my own time, conduct business.

Business Coach: Ok, so they all sound good, but conducting business? So you would consider conducting business something you enjoy doing rather than something you need to do in order to survive?
Aaron Stevens: Yes.

Business Coach: Good. I think we have found the reasons why you are in business, to enable you to spend time with the people you love, and spend time doing the things you love.

And that’s the example of how it’s done. Do this for yourself, take your time and be truthful, there are no right or wrong answers, just truthful answers. If you've never done anything like this before I expect it will take some deep thought.

Once you have defined why you’re in the business you in, write it down immediately on paper and stick it up on your work desk, read it everyday. And when things get tough (and they will), and you feel like giving up, then read your core reason as to why you are doing what your doing. You’ll find it a great tool for refocusing when you get off track.
